German language certificates

Which certificates count and how old they may be.

• The Federal Foreign Office accepts certificates from ALTE-standardised tests: Goethe, telc, ÖSD, TestDaF (from B2), ECL, DSD/KMK. Certificates from other language schools are not accepted.
• The exam date should usually be at most 1 year old at application.
• Required level depends on the route: Triple Win nursing B1 before departure, Opportunity Card A1 German (or B2 English), skilled worker often B1-B2 depending on the profession and employer.
