Avoiding scams

Fake agents, fake training offers, fees for permits.

Official warnings

• German Embassy Jakarta: the embassy does not work with intermediaries or agencies.
• Indonesian Embassy Berlin (police attaché, early 2025) warned against illegal agents for "Ausbildung/Magang" in Europe. Reported fee patterns: Rp 150,000 plus €150 for a "letter of acceptance" plus €200 for a "working permit". Such fees for permits do not exist as described.

Red flags

• You pay before a signed contract with a real German employer exists.
• Someone promises a visa or "guaranteed placement".
• A private person (not a licensed P3MI) offers to place you abroad. This is prohibited under Indonesian law.
• You are asked to send passport scans or pay by private transfer.

What to do

Verify the employer in Germany yourself (commercial register, company website, direct contact). Use only the free routes on Ways to work in Germany and the free advice of ProRecognition.
